SECRET 7” –  Submissions open now

secret_7_record_store_daySecret 7, an exciting annual charity event bringing together visual arts and music, is now open for 2016 submission.

The concept is simple: the organisation take 7 tracks ( ranging form iconic songs to more recent releases) and press each one onto a limited edition of 100 7” vinyls.

Artists and designers are then called to create a 7”sleeve with their own personal interpretation of the tracks, in their own style. 700 sleeves are selected to form the annual exhibition, this year to take place at Sonos Studio in Shoreditch.

The twist about secret 7, also hinted by the name, is that the creators of the sleeves remain anonymous. Every year a big sale is organised, and the funds sent to a charity.  Each piece is sold for 50£, and for this 5th edition of the event, the money collected will go to Amnesty International.
The buyers have no knowledge of the artist behind their chosen piece until after the purchase.

IMG_5339Anyone from well known designers to young creatives from anywhere around the world can submit sleeve designs (not just one but as many as you want) with no submission fees.

Secret 7 is a wonderful project that invites artists to engage in image making with a lot of freedom, fun and imagination. The final exhibitions bring together a tremendous variety of styles and surprising, original creative responses.

On top of that, its all for a good cause.
